ANDRO SEMEIKO
Untitled
26x35cm
Acrylic on canvas
2006
Semeiko will create an installation of a planetary system. He is planning to make a series of visceral wax sculptures in the shape
of planets presented on different height plinths in a circular group. He will produce a sculpture ‘Spaceship Nose 2007’ with a
detailed spaceship interior and figures of crusaders operating in it. On the installation’s walls, paintings will hang of “ideal
objects” which the crusader knights are seeking. Semeiko’s sculptural work employs highly skilled craftsmanship. He turns a
gigantic champagne cork into a miniature of a spaceship and embeds an ideal home with the dream garden inside a used
motorcyclist’s helmet. The longing for freedom of a utopian dream inspires his work. He creates new scenarios of science fiction
and fairy tales - juxtaposing modern consumer products to transform the idealism into miniaturised objects. To reduce work to
very small scale somehow fulfils the desire of possessing something, and the dream of reaching the impossible.
