Lupini questions whether language only represents thought or there is much more going on behind the autonomous play of signs.
His culturally coded South American Bossa Nova music explores the universal language. In Remixes Series (2002/2005) he
reworks 50's-60's songs by the Venezuelan group Onda Nueva, and develops them into a series of moving images. Referring back
to the period of time, the country had experienced an extensive process of modernisation. We may not remember the modern
history in South America, but the playful melody still remains highly recognizable recalling Lupini’s childhood memory. The artist
has visualised ‘post-babble pre-language’ into a series of moving images of black and white bold fonted characters and flashing
animated images synchronised with the movement of sound. The persistence of vision challenges viewers' eye whilst the tune and
melody of the meaningless pop songs invade our perception.
