1998-08 Five Years
Co-founder of artist led gallery space. Five Years is a non profit-making, artist-run
organisation. Our main activities are organising exhibitions with related educational
initiatives and providing a public platform for young or emerging contemporary artists.
Five Years has a strong national reputation and a growing international profile. We have
developed good links both with major institutions like Tate Modern and also with local
authorities and community organisations. Information about our activities is available on
our website (www.fiveyears.org.uk).
I am involved in all aspects of Five Years activities. This includes the development and
management of an ambitious exhibitions programme. We present at least 6 month-long
exhibitions a year, including solo projects, group exhibitions and a strong international
exchange scheme. In addition to the exhibitions programme Five Years operates a
performance and events programme that includes: live music events; film showings;
performance nights both within the gallery and more recently in a variety of non-gallery
venues.
I also have considerable experience in finding funding for a variety of Five Years
projects. In the past 6 years we have received money from The Lottery Grant, The
British Council, The Mondrian Foundation, FACT.
